You could be anywhere – sitting on your deck enjoying a warm summer day or relaxing in your home when it happens. A scratch. No big deal, right? Pets itch just like humans. But a second later there is another followed by another. When a scratch becomes constant, chances are your pet has fleas.

Fleas seem to appear overnight and take over your home in the blink of an eye. Once your household has been exposed, it is extremely difficult to rid yourself of these pests. Here’s why:

One female flea can lay up to 18 eggs a day!

It only takes 20 fleas on a dog to produce 360 eggs per day. That’s over 2,000 in one week! The flea population is typically made up of 50% eggs, 30% larvae, 15% pupae, and only 5% biting adults. Unlike some pests, fleas can survive the winter in the larval or pupal stage and then resume growth when temperatures warm.

Your best defense against fleas is to stop them before they make their way into your home. Paradise Lawns can help! We offer an organic flea control program that will protect your family and pets all season long!

Ticks are a safety concern to your family: plain and simple.

Ticks are superior carriers of disease. They are small and stealthy and often go unnoticed until it is too late. Even though they don’t jump or fly, their natural environment allows them the perfect access to their prey. They drop from trees or hide in the grass waiting for deer, dogs, and humans to come close.

Like fleas, winter won’t eliminate them either. Ticks can survive up to 200 days without food or water and can live up to 2 years! On lawns, 82% of deer ticks have been found within 9 feet of the lawn’s edge, especially around areas adjacent to woods, stonewalls, or ornamental plantings.

Protect Your Family

Most agree that life is better without fleas and ticks! However, harsh chemicals are often used to rid these pests. These chemicals are almost as scary as the pests themselves. In addition to possibly harming you and your pets, they also kill helpful insects like ladybugs and butterflies. A quick internet search brings up countless lawsuits and EPA articles about the possible harmful effects of well-known flea and tick treatments–making it seem like there are no safe preventative methods available.

Good news! There is a way to safely protect your family. Paradise Lawns uses a natural cedar and peppermint oil product that is made with 100% organic ingredients. We have found these oils to work as well as–if not better than–any chemical control formula currently on the market today!

Our Ant, Flea, & Tick Program consists of 5 applications during the summer months to help control blood feeding and parasitic fleas, ticks, and deer ticks from taking over your lawn! It is also effective in controlling other non-beneficial insects like mosquitoes, ants, gnats, aphids, centipedes, chinch bugs, earwigs, millipedes, mites, spiders, whiteflies, and numerous others. The great thing is that it WILL NOT harm beneficial insects such as bees, butterflies, and earthworms.
