Is it too early to put up holiday lighting?

It’s never too early for holiday lighting! In fact, we’ve already started installing some of our amazing clients’ displays. You’re probably wondering if we mean amazing clients or amazing lighting displays. They’re both pretty amazing, so please don’t make us pick a favorite. We usually begin putting up exterior holiday lighting displays in October so that everyone will have their lights ready to illuminate by November 30 (or shortly after).

Begin your holiday lighting after Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving weekend holiday lighting

Thanksgiving this year is on November 26th. Many like to kick off the start of the holiday season by turning on exterior lights after the Thanksgiving dinner or over the weekend. Don’t wait until then to schedule with us – now is the time.

If your neighborhood has a Homeowner Association aka HOA, it may be a good idea to see if there are any restrictions to when you can have decorations on display. Usually restrictions only concern lawn décor and inflatables. So, as long as you wait to turn on your exterior lights, many homeowner associations don’t mind when they are hung. However, one Texas couple tried to be proactive and ran into problems with their HOA, so it is reminder to find out about any restrictions in advance. Regardless, it is still wise to schedule with us sooner, rather than later. We are happy to work with your neighborhood HOA to make sure everything is set up and ready at the right time so you will be ready to ring in the new holiday season.

Chase away the winter blahs with exterior holiday lighting

Brighten a dark day with holiday lighting

Not to bum you out, but our days are getting shorter and daylight will continue to decrease until the winter solstice on December 21st (the shortest day of the year). Even after, it is a slow transition back to the long days we recently experienced during the summer months. Having exterior holiday lights add a touch of sparkle and light to those shorter days. It may even benefit your health and wellbeing. According to Hopkins Medicine, “the bright lights of the holiday season aren’t just for decoration; they can also help regulate your mood. In late fall and winter, shorter daylight hours leave many people with little to no sun exposure, signaling the brain to create too much of the sleep-regulating hormone melatonin.” So, instead of getting down about the sun setting before 6pm, enjoy the glow of exterior holiday lights.
